Welcome to 120Junkie — a space where I share my photography, write about the analog process, and document travel and everyday moments through film.
My wife and I love to travel, and wherever we go, one of my film cameras comes with me. Photography has always been part of how I experience places — not just what they look like, but how they feel.
Why film?
In 1993, I attended Robert Morgan Vocational Tech Institute, where I spent two years studying photography. Back then, I dreamed of becoming a fashion photographer like Richard Avedon. The program offered job placement, and I genuinely believed this could be my career — days spent shooting, nights in the darkroom.
It was a good dream. The timing just wasn’t on my side.
Film was on its way out, and digital photography — still expensive at the time — was quickly becoming the new standard. Like many others, life took me in a different direction.
So why do I still shoot film?
Because it’s what I learned on, and it’s what I fell in love with.
Film slows you down. There’s no instant gratification (unless you’re shooting Polaroids). Every frame requires intention. The process forces you to be present, deliberate, and patient — qualities that shaped the way I learned to see and still influence how I photograph today.
Most of the work you see here is shot on medium format 120 film, which is where the name 120Junkie comes from. Medium format cameras produce larger negatives with exceptional detail and tonal depth. They’re tactile, mechanical, and unapologetically hands-on — and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
If something here resonates with you, I’ve made a selection of images available as fine-art prints in various sizes and formats. Feel free to browse the portfolio — no pressure, just look around and see what speaks to you.
Thanks for stopping by.
